14 weeks pregnant and fetal doppler questions?
Well, I’m 14 weeks pregnant and have been using a fetal doppler for the past couple of weeks. I have a couple of questions:
1. At 12 and 13 weeks I was picking up the heartbeat right away and it sounded very loud. However, at 14 weeks, even though I pick up the heart beat every time it sounds further away. Can this be the position of the baby?
2. I used to pick up the baby’s heartbeat at the same spot all the time (right above my pelvic bone on the right side). Now it seems to be moving up (closer to my belly button but still on the right side). Does this happen as the baby gets bigger?
3. I have heard that the baby’s heart beat begins to slow down as it gets bigger. When does this begin to happen and does when does it stabelize?
Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

These are not recommended by doctors for a reason for personal use like you are doing. Leave your baby alone and let your doctor do this procedure when they feel it is needed. The baby does not like it and should only be done when it is needed. You know how loud it is when you smack on the outside of a fish aquarium and all the fish freak out? That is what you are doing to your baby. It is a loud sound to them and they do move to get away from the sound. I am the mother of twins and was in the hospital for three months before they were born and know all about what you are talking about. If you have a healthy pregnancy, stop doing this and if you have an at risk pregnancy, let your doctor do the medical stuff. Let your baby grow minus all the stress you are putting it through by playing doctor.
!. Yes the baby will be moving around a lot so sometimes the baby is more towards your back then the front so it will sound further away.
2. Once you get to be about 20 weeks your uterus is at your belly button so right now its about half way there, and the baby is so small he/she has a ton of room to move so sometimes the baby will be further up, other times lower.
3. The heart beat does slow down some as it gets bigger, but not by much, I’m at 28 weeks and my babies heart beat is still in the 150’s and it was the same in my first pregnancy all the way till she was born. So as long as it is between 110 and 170 bpm its a good heart beat.
Why did I get a thumbs down? You can look on any reliable pregnancy website and it will tell you the same thing. Even ask a doctor its not like I’m lieing.
